Treating Acne with Oral Retinoids

If your acne problem is within the range of moderately severe to severe, it may be best to go for oral retinoids. The oral form is the most potent, getting into your system easily when gels and creams cannot reach the deepest dirt in your skin.

Oral isotretinoin may be sold under the name, Roaccutane. The medication decreases the amount of sebum produced in the sebaceous glands. So, bacteria do not have enough oil secretions to dwell in and reproduce. As a result, your skin will less likely develop inflammations or infections, while your present acne will be dealt with. Usually, isotretinoin is used for cystic acne, which is characterized by pus-filled nodules that are hard and could be painful.
