Efficacy of tandospirone, a 5HT1c agonist, in atopic dermatitis

 
 

A 4-week, randomized, controlled trial in 37 patients aged 18-37 years, with atopic dermatitis (AD) evaluated the effect of tandospirone citrate, a 5HT1c receptor agonist, in the treatment of AD. Twenty patients received 10 mg tandospirone t.i.d. for 4 weeks while 17 patients received no treatment. Thirty-seven healthy control subjects were also included. Assessments included Profile of Mood States (POMS), SCORing Atopic Dermatitis (SCORAD) index and a visual analogue scale (VAS) for insomnia.
