Psychiatric disorders common in children with chronic idiopathic urticaria

 
 

Children with chronic idiopathic urticaria will often require attention for psychiatric symptoms, if the results of a study of a sample of such children are representative of this patient group as a whole. The study consisted of evaluations of 30 children aged 8-16 years treated at a single center and 30 age- and sex-matched healthy subjects. Evaluation with the Schedule for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia for School Age Children-Present and Lifetime Version (K-SADS-PL) revealed psychiatric disorders in 63% of patients.
