Common caregiver behaviors in pediatric atopic dermatitis patients: The Elibrot study

An observational, multicenter study based on surveys at a single visit was conducted to observe the behaviors of parents/caregivers of children (aged 2-12 years) with atopic dermatitis (AD). Responses from 1777 parents of children with AD were collated by 451 pediatricians. The factors evaluated comprised lesion intensity and location, the treatments, their duration and patient satisfaction. Parent/caregivers tended to visit the doctor 6 times more frequently in moderate versus mild episodes (p<0.0001). The most commonly used moisturizing treatments were oils, emulsions, gels and lotions (31%), followed by topical immunomodulators at 30% and strong corticosteroids (CS) at 23.3%.
