A 77-year-old female Caucasian patient presented with extensive skin lesions. Her right chest, right flank and part of her abdomen were covered with ulcers and necrosis. New lesions appeared 5 days earlier on the left side of her back. Her skin became red and pruritic.
The patient's medical history dates back to 1993, when a scirrhotic small cell breast carcinoma was diagnosed. The carcinoma was estrogen receptor positive, gestagen receptor negative and at that time was staged as pT2 pN0 (0/9) M0 G2. Breast-conserving quadrantectomy with an axillary dissection was performed, followed by hormonal therapy with tamoxifen 20 mg together with radiotherapy. After these procedures the irradiated skin became noticeably red and pigmented.
