A putative association was investigated between the neuropeptide S receptor 1 gene (NPSR1) and eczema in 6,275 patients and healthy subjects from 5 European countries (Sweden, Germany, Austria, Netherlands and Switzerland). No association was found between eczema and 7 polymorphisms in NPSR1 in any of the populations studied, either independently or in collaboration. NPSR1 would not appear to be involved in the pathogenesis of eczema (Ekelund, E. et al. Acta Derm Venereol 2009, 89[2]: 115).
