Clinical evaluation of mesenchymal stem cells to cure psoriasis vulgaris

A trial was conducted of the efficacy and safety of mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) in 20 patients with slight-moderate chronic plaque-type psoriasis with a mean Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) score of 9.6. Patients were examined on a week to week basis for PASI evaluation, and photographic and optical techniques were also used to monitor progress. Patients were injected once with syngenic MSC i.v. in a vehicle volume of 0.5 mL. The treatment was well tolerated with no allergenic events.
