Rupatadine responder analysis in chronic urticaria

Pooled data from two 4-week randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multicenter trials in 538 chronic urticaria (CU) patients evaluated the efficacy of the antihistamine rupatadine. Variables analyzed included the Mean Pruritus Score (MPS), Mean Number of Wheals (MNW) and Urticaria Activity Score (UAS). Responder rates were expressed as the percentage of patients with decreases in symptom scores of 50% or more and 75% or more. Rupatadine 10 mg (R10) and 20 mg (R20) both significantly decreased MPS, MNW and UAS scores versus placebo.
