Willingness-to-pay and quality of life in vitiligo patients

A German nationwide postal survey assessed willingness-to-pay (WTP) for treatment and resolution and quality of life (QoL) in a sample of 1,023 vitiligo patients (mean age 44.4 years). QoL was assessed by the EuroQoL (EQ-5D) questionnaire and the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) questionnaire. QoL data were compared with 1,511 patients from a national psoriasis survey. The mean DLQI scores were 7 and 8.6 and the mean EQ-5D scores were 83.6 and 75.3 for vitiligo and psoriasis patients, respectively. Approximately one-third (32.9%) of vitiligo patients would pay more than 5,000 euros to achieve complete remission. The WTP value was highest in the 30-60-year-old age group.
