A quality of life scale specifically devised for nail psoriasis was developed, the Nail Psoriasis Quality of Life (NPQ10) questionnaire. The questionnaire was created during a French study conducted between 2004 and 2005. It was sent to a random sample of 4,000 members of L'Association Pour La Lutte Contre Le Psoriasis. Of 4,000 questionnaires, 1,309 were returned and 795 showed the presence of nail psoriasis. The NPQ10 score was significantly influenced by gender (females have a higher score) and by duration of psoriasis. The score was increased when the condition affected the hands and the feet.
