Telavancin profile in patients with complicated skin and skin structure infections and varying degrees of renal impairment

 
 

A study of 513 patients with complicated skin structure and skin structure infections (cSSSI) due to Gram-positive bacteria was conducted to simulate plasma concentration time profiles in patients with varying degrees of renal function. The percentage of patients with an area under the curve/minimum inhibitory concentration (AUC/MIC) ratio of > 219 was also calculated. The simulated dosing regimen was based on telavancin 10 mg/kg/24 h for patients with creatinine clearance (CrCl) > 50 mL/min; 7.5 mg/kg/24 h for CrCl 30-50 mL/min and 10 mg/kg/48 h for CrCl < 30 mL/min.
