Urinary biomarkers of oxidative stress were measured in 29 psoriasis vulgaris (PV) patients, 31 atopic dermatitis (AD) patients and 20 healthy volunteers. Urinary nitrate (UN), malondialdehyde (MAL) and 8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) were measured as biomarkers of oxidative stress. UN and 8-OhdG, but not MAL, were increased in PV patients versus controls. UN levels were higher in AD patients than in controls. The Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) and Eczema Area and Severity Index (EASI) were used to measure disease severity in PV and AD patients, respectively.
