Three separate studies were undertaken to validate a new assessment tool for psoriasis, the Lattice System-Physician's Global Assessment (LS-PGA), against the Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI). Each study was a randomized evaluation of psoriasis patients in England (n = 16), USA (n = 35) and Canada (n = 20). The 2 rating systems were well correlated (R > 0.8 in 2 of 3 studies). In the U.S. study, the inter-rater reliability (sigma) for LS-PGA was 1.7 and that for the PASI was 8.8, even when corrected for the varying number of final scores obtained from each method.
