Palmoplantar psoriasis: A retrospective review and introduction of a novel quality of life assessment tool

 
 

A U.S. retrospective case chart review of 150 patients with palmoplantar psoriasis (PP) was undertaken with a focus on phenotypical and clinical aspects. A novel quality of life index the Palar-Plantar Quality of Life Index (PPQoLI) was constructed to characterize disease severity. The majority of patients (52%) had predominantly hyperkeratotic palmoplantar lesions; 16% had pustular lesions; 12% had a combination; and 20% had an indeterminate phenotype. Approximately one-fifth (18%) had lesions confined to the palms and soles. The PPQoLI characterized 18, 48 and 34 of patients as mild, moderate or severe disease, respectively.
