Atopic dermatitis is associated with AMCase polymorphisms and serum LL-37 levels in Chinese children

 
 

A Chinese study investigated the relationship between atopic dermatitis (AD) and the gene encoding mammalian chitinase (AMCase) in 218 children with AD and 197 nonallergenic controls. Multivariate logistic regression identified AMCase as the single-nucleotide polymorphism in the AD group (P = 0.001), thus implicating it in the pathogenesis of AD (Leung, T.F. et al. 29th Congress Eur Acad Allergy Clin Immunol (June 5-9, London) 2010, Abst 754). The role of the antimicrobial peptide, LL-37, AMCase and AD was investigated by the same group in 144 children with AD.
