A nationwide, cross-sectional German postal survey assessed the clinical features, treatment outcomes and patient satisfaction in 1,023 patients with vitiligo. The mean age of the patients was 24 years, with a mean age at disease onset of 24.1 years and mean disease duration of 20.3 years. The mean number of affected body sites and body surface area affected was 6.9 and 14.9%, respectively. Only approximately one-third (38.7%) of patients experienced minimal patient benefit from a mean of 3.7 therapies prior to the study. There is a need for more beneficial treatment options in patients with vitiligo (Radtke, M.A. et al. Dermatology 2010, 220: 194).
