Combined oral clindamycin and rifampicin in treating hidradenitis suppurativa

A retrospective case analysis of 34 patients with hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) treated with oral clindamycin and oral rifampicin was conducted. Doses varied but most patients were taking 600 mg/day of each drug. Partial improvement was defined as < 75% clinical improvement from baseline, while total remission was defined as total clearance or an improvement of > 75% from baseline. The maximum effects occurred at 10 weeks. In the overall group, 82.4% responded to treatment; 35.3% had partial improvement; and 47.1% had total remission.
