Atopic eczema (AE) is one of the most common skin diseases, affecting 5-20% of children and up to 3% of adults all over the world. The clinical presentation, aggravating factors and complications are different according to the age of the patients. Most cases present for the first time at the age of 3-6 months, but may also appear later. Even adult-onset AE has been observed as a special form of AE. Food allergy may play a role in AE, but only in the first years of life. Diet therapy is almost never effective. Pruritus is the worst sign of AE, which also often indicates an exacerbation and is considered to be the most annoying symptom of AE...
