Ichthyosiform eruptions in association with primary lymphomas

 
 

A retrospective analysis of 106 patients (aged 30-82 years) with cutaneous lymphomas assessed the histopathology of any ichthyosiform eruptions (IEs) present. Nine patients had IEs, including three with anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL) and six with mycosis fungoides (MF). The three patients with ALCL had IEs consistent with acquired ichthyosis, comprising white packed horny layers and thin granular layers without lymphocytic infiltration. Four out of six MF patients had IEs with epidermotropic infiltration of atypical lymphocytes. In the other two patients, one had histopathology overlapping acquired ichthyosis and ichthyosiform MF (IMF) and one had acquired ichthyosis only.
