Serum mucosa-associated epithelial chemokine in atopic dermatitis: A proxy marker for disease severity

 
 

A controlled longitudinal study evaluated the expression of mucosa-associated epithelial chemokine CCL28 (MEC CCL28) in serum in pediatric atopic dermatitis (AD) and bronchial asthma (BA) and its putative relationship to disease severity and activity. Serum CCL28 was measured in AD (n = 36), BA (n = 23) and patients with AD and BA (n = 14), together with 21 age- and gender-matched controls. The subjects were aged 8-90 months overall. Disease severity was assessed by the SCORing Atopic Dermatitis scale and the Leicester Sign Score (LSS).
