What’s New in the Diagnosis of Immune Skin Diseases (Blistering Diseases)?

Summary

Since molecular targets of autoantibodies in autoimmune blistering diseases were identified, several new serodiagnostic assays have been developed. Desmoglein 1 and 3 ELISA (enzyme linked immunosorbent assay) for pemphigus, and BP180 and BP230 ELISA for pemphigoid are available. These assays enable a rapid characterization of patients' sera.
