The convergent validity of the Family Dermatology Life Quality Index (FDLQI) adapted from the Impact on Family (IOF) scale was examined in 50 outpatients with different skin diseases. The adapted version of the IOF and FDLQI were completed by adult family members of patients, whereas patients completed the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI). The median scores for the 3 instruments, FDLQI, IOF and DLQI were 4, 29 and 3, respectively. The FDLQI gave high internal consistency with a Cronbach's alpha score of 0.91.
