An open-label, controlled study in 55 psoriasis patients and 47 healthy controls described the changes in pro- and antiinflammatory cytokines (IL-12 and IL-10, respectively) after patients received the Goeckerman regimen (GR). This comprises the dermal application of coal tar and exposure to UV radiation. Serum levels of IL-12 and IL-10 were measured before and after GR in patients and compared with those in healthy blood donors.
