Atopy patch testing found to be not justified in the assessment of food allergy in infants

 
 

A total of 135 children aged younger than 3 years with atopic dermatitis (AD) and suspected food allergy participated in a prospective clinical trial to determine the clinical value of the atopy patch test (APT) when added to a standardized allergological work-up. Patients who had proven negative for the skin application food test (SAFT) conducted with a specific set of allergens were then evaluated using the APT and measurement of specific IgGs.
