A total of 24 healthy controls without atopy and 24 patients with atopic dermatitis (AD) participated in a study evaluating the efficacy of neuroselective transcutaneous electrical stimulator (NTES) in evaluating and characterizing itch and pain perception. Significant differences in the sensations evoked by the NTES were observed between participants, and itch sensation was more frequently evoked in nonlesional skin of patients with AD than in healthy controls.
