French researchers develop a novel tool for assessing quality of life in psoriasis

A collaborative study headed by researchers at the University of Bordeaux, France, has yielded a novel questionnaire specifically assessing health-related quality of life (HRQL) in patients with psoriasis. The QualiPSo questionnaire was first drafted and tested in individual interviews with 50 psoriasis patients. A panel of experts reviewed the findings and selected 56 items, which were then evaluated in 569 outpatients. Exploratory factor analysis retained 39 items that composed the final QualiPSo questionnaire. QualiPSo subscales were psychometrically robust, with remarkable internal consistency, high item-discriminating validity and good concurrent and clinical validity.
