Meetings
Meetings. Make it a rule of thumb to not accept invitations to participate in unscheduled meetings, unless the issue is absolutely important and urgent. Use this argument to let others know that they cannot dispose of your time. Take some time to analyze how necessary or convenient it really is for you to participate in regular meetings, or be member of groups or committees that also hold regular meetings. Ask yourself, "What will happen if I do not go or if I send a qualified representative?" You should also analyze how long these meetings last: could they be shorter? Suggest that actions be taken regarding the matter.
