16 - the Idle Hour
The idle hour. This consists of setting aside a period of time when you only allow yourself to be interrupted by emergencies. Those who call can leave messages, and you can return the calls later. You will not schedule meetings during the idle hour. The objective is simple: there must be a period of time with no interruptions, when you can effectively concentrate on an important task and complete it. If you pre-judge the concept and think this is impossible to do, either by you or in your company, it will actually become impossible. But you should be aware that many companies have successfully adopted the idle hour concept. The idle hour will be much more effective if it is respected and adopted by the whole team, the whole division, the entire office. If this is not possible, do it individually. Once you start showing positive results, you will notice how easily others will adopt this practice.
